Haiti

For my first illustration of the semester, I decided to pour my heart into a piece for/about the Haiti Earthquake aftermath. I've been following the news as it comes out. One story that struck me was this short piece about an orphan girl. She's one of many--but how many? I shudder to think.

I eventually intend to add a few color washes to this in some places. But I haven't yet decided what colors to use. Suggestions?

This is a beautiful piece. The way you've chosen to mask off the girl's face as well as the environment add so much emotional weight to your drawing.

I think that the black and white is intense and really lends to the concept...

I think if you were to add color, the only place that would make sense would be in the cracks. Kind of showing how all of the life is underneath, you know?

Looks beautiful, though!! Keep it up, you're so great. :)

Skip the color, this piece is sublime the way it is.

This piece is rock solid. The commentary is documentarian and I don't feel like I'm being asked to buy into an opinion, but instead to see a situation as it can be seen first hand. And the execution is up my alley, so I'm biased on that -- but still, gorgeous image.
